I experience changes in SERPs every day.
One day, one of my articles gets 380 Google visits, on the other 150.
Another article drops from 120 to 30.
I don’t know how it is calculated but the total average visits to all of my 80 articles is always the same, no matter how many visits per each article.
something like a give and take..

UDATE:

12 hours after posting it has dropped down more than a page or two. -

The older posts it originally usurped are now taking their position back at the top.

I’ve noticed this effect too – an article shoots straight to the top just after publishing and then gradually slides down.

This one still ranks top for “How often does Google change its SERPs” though..

24 minutes from posting. – To number one (in UK) for the search for “How often does google change its SERPS – search results?” – Where is it now? Preusmably it will sink down a little.
